I just got accepted to the University of Minnesota dental school. I have been taking classes and I'll finish up at the end of this month. Because of school and all the travel/application expenses my bank account is running fairly low. I'm hoping to not have to ask my friends/parents to lend me money for the $1,000 deposit.

I start my new job once I graduate and should make some decent money to pay them back but until then I can't afford the deposit alone. Is there any way to push back the 30 day deadline or is there any way I could show them I'm committed without the money right now? (I'm assuming not)

Any input would help..

Thanks

I don't think schools usually make any exceptions. Although if you call and explain your situation you may get away with it. Nothing wrong with borrowing from parents if you pay them back.

In no way did I mean to sound ungrateful. This is the second time I've applied. I get it. Purely just wondering if others are in the same/know how to handle something like this.

I agree w/ Jaesango. Nothing wrong with borrowing money from your parents. Heck I have a (low pay) job and am in my early 20s and I still ask my parents for money when I need it. If your parental situation is diff from mine, just make sure you will pay them back as soon as asap.

I would ask. If they say "yes", you got what you wanted. If they say "no", you're back where you are now. Worst case scenario is you're back at square one, not bad.

I don't know what kind of culture you participate in but my parents tend to invest a lot in me, understanding that I will one day support them.
