I am currently a soph Chem major, and I just got my grade for OChem 1 yesterday. I got a B, and it's a 3 credits course I was about to get an A- until I received my final test grade (140/200, which is like a C+). So my letter grade dropped to a B.
My grades for Biology 2 and Biology lab are not up yet, but it is very likely that I will receive a B for Bio 2 and an A- or so for Bio lab. I also got a B for Biology 1, and it was a 6 credit class. So I was really screwed.

My GPA is currently 3.7-ish, but it is likely to drop. Even though I don't have any C yet, I think that my transcript looked really bad. Next semester I am worrying about OChem 2, OChem lab and Phys 2 since I'll be taking 3 of them at the same time. I got A in both 2 semesters of Gen Chem. I got a 4.0 my first semester in college, but everything started to go downward since then. Should I abandon my pre-med dream? I'm really depressed right now, what should I do? Should I go talk with my academic advisor?

Don't give up!!! Talk your advisor!
It's not over!!! 🙂

You've now met your slump quota. Buckle down and get your 4.0 spirit back. You have as much chance as anyone right now. As sports announcers say, "S/He controls her/his own destiny!"

Depression is poorly treated on anonymous message boards. Go to your doctor or your school's counseling center and get some help NOW.

Then go to your school's learning center for ways of optimizing your learning habits.

It seems that you were doing ok before the final, which you bombed. Why? Figure out why and then fix that.

Don't be depressed. In the spirit of making you feel better, I have a 3.3 overall GPA right now. But I haven't lost hope yet at all! In fact, I believe there's still a spot for me somewhere. I just need to find it. It's not all about grades. There's also the MCAT, volunteer/work/research experience, and personality. If it's meant to be, it'll be. Just try not to have any regrets along your journey to apply, and you will be fine.

Buckle down and fix it next semester. Plenty of people have a bad semester on their transcripts and still get into medical school. Definitely don't give up hope on medical school over a few grades.

Figure out why you did poorly, and then figure out what you can do to fix it. Talk to the academic advisor, classmates, professors, or anyone else you think could help you improve your study methods. And above all else, STAY POSITIVE!

If you found that semester course load to be too stressful and unmanageable, I'd suggest spreading out your premed requirements a bit more. There is no need to finish every single class (though you should have finished most) before you apply. Another tip is to check your exam schedules as soon as you can to make sure your exams for different science classes don't overlap. Two science finals on the same day can tank your gpa even if you have been doing well for the rest of the semester.

Planning my schedule helps me manage my stress i just delegate my worries to my schedule and only worry about the task at hand. I use google calendars and whenever I have something to do i just look for free time and schedule it in according to how much time it takes. It lends structure to your time. When you get good at time management you can manipulate the structure according to your needs. Its really exciting stuff. Not only am i stress free i've been doing better then i've ever had in school.

I sync it with my iphone so i have it with me and can edit it all the time! God i love technology.

you can still salvage your gpa. ill tell you what ... gpa does matter, but its not the end all be all of the admissions process. It sounds like you have been progressively doing worse as the semester progressed. Try and figure out why this is the case. is it because your initial courses were more of a review?
Try and not be so hard on yourself. It happened already so there is nothing you can do about it. go strong the remainder of your years in undergrad.

I hope this is a joke. These were my grades first semester sophomore year:

Organic Chemistry 1 B
Differential Equations C+
General Physics II B-
Engineering Mechanics C+
Engineering Linear Algebra B

I'm sitting at a 3.5 right now still and I think I'm doing ok. Get some perspective, man/woman. A "B" here and there wont kill you. It's only part of your application
