depressing DAT score.

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Sorry to hear about your experience. Overall, you are a competitive application. Man, your situation is the same as me. I came to the country a few years before you. Took my DAT and got 14 RC hahahaha. We are on the same boat so I feel ya.

I have to retake mine soon.

1. I am thinking about taking DAT in Sep 2nd. Do you think I still have a shot??😡 is SEP too late for this cycle? I am sure I can do well in rc. (I usually get around 18 on Cracking DAT reading)

2. Once I decided to apply, (I am not usually a risk taker), How can I send my 2nd DAT score to schools?? I was a bit confused in this system.
Thank you!!!
Hope you all do welllllllll[/QUOTE]

O herrooo bigboi. to answer your question, u should apply first with ur current score and fax your new DAT scores to schools in september. I'll tell you right off the bat it will be VERY VERY hard to get an interview with 12RC. Alot of schools have 17RC cut offs. doing bad in QR is okay but doing bad in RC is not okay. good luck 🙂

BTW, you can only submit 4 letters of evaluation on AADSAS. You'd better practice reading like crazy and hope you get better passages next time.

RC 12 (1% out of 100%)😱 Am I crazy?
not 1.21% or 2%. 1 %%%%%%%%%% have you seen it?

QR 14... 🙂scared:Odd.. I have all As in four college level math classes.)
Bio 17👎
PAT 19😡
OC 26
GC 21:meanie:

TS 19
AA 18.

my gpa is merely 3.66 and s gpa is just 3.5 psycho major (I am not psycho kk) bio and chem minor

and please answer those two questions that my stupid advisors can never answer.

your RC score is sooo cute.... Out of the 50 questions, I think you missed like 40. Did you fall asleep ?

Sorry, just trying to cheer you up. This is DEFINITELY a fluke. I've seen ESL, hell, even ETL (English as a Third Language) students who couldn't write a complete English sentence if their life depended on it score around 17-18-ish.

Its wise of you to retake, , but I can't advice you to apply with a 12 in RC (thats an automatic rejection). Lets wait until your retake in September then you can decide if you should apply this cycle vs next. You have a good GPA, and from looks of it, you rocked the 2 chemistry portions. You should enroll into a speed-reading course (you can find these from your local library or your college).

Looking at your scores, I think retake is a must because since most schools have their cutoffs at 17s, I don't think your RC's 12 will make it through the screening. Adcoms don't even have a chance to look at your application regardless you have good GPAs and LORs. What you should do now is practicing your reading skills like crazy (as much as I'm doing it everyday) and hopefully you will come back strong next time. I'm Asian as well (well .. my last name ) and I know how intimidating it feels when it comes to reading because English is not our mother tongue. Nevertheless, I believe that practice makes perfect. So good luck with your study, and I believe that you will do 👍 next time. 🙂

I haven't taken the DAT yet and English is my first language, so what I have to say may not be helpful to you. I think you need to work on some relaxation techniques. I know when I'm taking a test, its easy to become distracted if I'm under a great deal of pressure. I close my eyes and try to clear my head of all thoughts and take a few deep breaths. It always helps me refocus. Why don't you contact the Texas schools and ask them if you should apply now of wait for the retake. Good luck in September!

Look on the bright side 🙂 Your GPA is pretty competitive, and you did excellent on the OC and GC on the DAT. You are obviously capable of doing great. Your PAT is pretty decent also and your AA is average regardless of your low RC/QR scores. Imagine if you did well on QR/RC... your AA would be very high and very competitive. All you have to work on is RC and QR. For QR, have you tried Math Destroyer? I made the mistake of not studying for QR, and I got a 15. Study and understand Math Destroyer and you will do well. This is a section you can definitely improve on, just practice everyday for a little bit until your RETAKE.

For RC, what did you use to study for this section? Have you tried Crack Dat Reading? This will help you with the tone/inference questions. Use TopScore for search&destroy questions. If you need more material, Examkrackers Verbal 101 book might help. It's an MCAT book, but it will be good practice nonetheless. Practice RC everyday for the next 3 months until you retake your DAT.

Good luck! 🙂

(BTW, how is your TS 19? When I add your OC, GC, BS scores together and divide by three, I get 21.....)

Edit: Nevermind, I just read that you used Crack Dat Reading. Btw, I averaged 21 on there and got an 18 on the real deal. Studying that for RC alone won't cut it for most people who struggle with RC. Good luck!

The total science score is is a standard score based on all 100 questions in the biology, general chemistry and organic chemistry tests. It is not the average of the three science standard scores.
- Score report sheet.

They use a different way to calculate that score as compared to AA.

Anyways, thank you so much for saying nice words for me!!!😍 by the way, I am super Korean!! somebody asked me.

Thank you dentalworks!! and I do find my rc score is somewhat cute haha, and my lucky number has been number 12 since I was very little... for sure.
I really appreciate your time and efforts in this forum.
I think you should be a real paid dental advisor in my school. My adviser is too busy to know how DAT consists of...😴

one last thing. My school advisors are really deviant. They said I have to get 4 letters from bio, chem, and physics. If not, no committe letters. Finally, I happened to have more than enough letters.

the 4 letters they are requesting are pretty norm....

I have no experience with committee letters (my post-bacc school didn't offer the service). I did individual LORs

You did pretty well in the chemistry sections so I do not think you need to focus on that section. I would totally practice some speed reading techniques or new methods on taking RC section. I personally used S&D but that just worked out for me. I know there are other ways. I would still apply because you never know but plan on retaking the DAT as soon as you are able to do it.

Good job on your DAT! You rocked all section but one...unfortenately you'll need a retake, but at least you know you can rock 3/4 sections!
