The UC Davis Department of Dermatology in Sacramento, CA is offering a 1-2 year research fellowship under the mentorship of Dr. Jared Jagdeo.
Description: Dr. Jagdeo is an Associate Professor of Dept. of Dermatology at UC Davis and an adjunct faculty of Dept. of Dermatology at SUNY Downstate. Dr. Jagdeo's expertise is with laser and light-based modalities, and is actively pursuing novel treatment options for various skin conditions (e.g. scarring and skin fibrosis). Dr. Jagdeo has authored 70+ peer-reviewed manuscripts and is actively involved in teaching and patient care.
Fellows will participate in a variety of basic science, translational and/or clinical research projects, and be actively involved in NIH-funded and investigator-initiated industry-sponsored studies. It is a major priority that the fellow will author 5 or more publications per year, which previous fellows have successfully achieved. Other responsibilities include participation in weekly dermatology clinics, Dept. of Dermatology Grand Rounds, presenting work at national conferences, and submitting protocols to the Institutional Review Board (IRB) for review.
The fellowship is designed for students/MDs who are planning to pursue dermatology residency training, and past fellows have successfully matched into dermatology residencies.
Stipend is available for this position.
Availability: Flexible. Fellowship offers are made for 1 year with the possibility of extending to 2 years.
Eligibility: Only students who will have completed the 2nd or 3rd year of medical school, or MDs who have completed PGY-1 by the start of the research position are being considered at this time.
Interested applicants may email their CV (with USMLE scores), letter of interest and 2 references (preferably derm faculty).
