Recently, I got into both schools. Both are strong DO schools. I currently live in southeast MI, so by location alone, Chicago is much closer. However, it costs WAY more. I also really loved Des Moines during my interview, although I really liked Chicago still. Right now, I’m heavily leaning toward DMU. Any thoughts on that I may not be considering? Thanks again so much for any advice!

DMU>>CCOM.

DMU is trending in the right direction. Their students perform well on boards (~227-230 USMLE range) and match well. Not that match lists should be used to pick one school vs. another, but DMU did match several students into surgical sub-specialties (ortho, ENT, ophthomology, and urology). For the price, quality of education, and strong match lists (relatively as a DO program), I’d go DMU. On top of that, they are building a brand new campus in West Des Moines... supposedly with Ph.D programs.

Definitely DMU. Not worth the extra cost at CCOM and DMU has Chicago rotation spots if memory serves. Plus I've only heard good things about DMU
