Desperate: Need to find a Research position ASAP

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Are you an undergrad? If you're an undergrad, chances are you're not going to get paid for doing research (at least not at my university). Also, if you have minimal experience, how do you expect to be paid? I would suggest you work a second job and try to put as many hours into lab as you can if you need both the cash and research.

Do you go to a larger university? I went to a large state school and they had a student employment site. My first "lab" job was feeding fish in a lab, was kinda lame but it got me hired at my two legitimate labs.

Second question: Have you had a job before if your university does have an employment site? I actively helped seek out an undergrad to replace me when I left and one of the requirements of both labs was previous employment or volunteer work. They didn't like blank resumes and weren't interested in hiring a complete noob.

Also going along with the theme of my questions involving an employment site both jobs were listed as undergrad research assistant and when I first started out all I did was wash dishware and stuff I became involved in research when I expressed my interest. I worked with two pharmacy students in the lab and neither ever did actual research because they weren't interested in it.

Yes, I was paid for research last year.
I tried using one of those sites but it seems outdated (AKA labs posting positions that ended up being 2 years old).

I don't mind doing grunt work, but I need to make some money this summer to buy a car (I don't care if I do research for free and something else for money), but I want to kill two birds with one stone.

Oh and I'm applying for grants (not for lab, that's during the year). So even if it's unpaid, that's fine but deadline coming ASAP.

Did you email the professor you did work with last time?

Not yet, will have to though. But I'm looking for research and their lab is so busy/clustered, I don't want to bother anyone as I'm new to actual research (last summer I got paid to learn). I also found a PI but he didn't respond back (which I hear is common) after I met him/sent him emails.

I worked in a large clustered lab so I know that feeling I had to bug the crap out of my PI sometimes when I was stuck on my project.

I would definitely email that professor and tell them you enjoyed your experience last time and if you could help out this summer. If that doesn't work, do you have a college of food and agriculture? My best work came from that college and it was less competitive for a position because pre-meds were more interested in working with biology/medical staff.

research for credit might be a good option - during the year
