I recently interviewed at a school that I would ideally like to attend. The school is not in my state, but my partner and extended family live in the state where the school is. Are these details worth mentioning in my letter of intent?

Yes! Include it. Schools freq. look for ties to the area when making admissions decisions. Good luck! 🙂

Hi there! Remember that in your letter of intent you should provide your genuine reasons for making this school your top choice. So, besides discussing what aspects of their program, curriculum, research, or vision stand out to you and why these are central to your decision, you can also mention that you have ties to the state where the school is located. Programs like to know that adaptability won’t be an issue once applicants are admitted, so having family around is always a plus. Additionally, you should demonstrate why you are an ideal candidate by discussing ways you could uniquely contribute to their program and campus community. Hope this helps and best of luck!
