In the "Parental" section of AADSAS, you're required to list your parents' information.

But my question is, how does AADSAS determine which state you're a resident of? Do they base this off of your listed "preferred/permanent address"?

In Biographic information under "Place of Birth/Citizenship" is asks you which state you're a legal resident of, and for how long.

Here is a thing, AADSAS doesnt determine anything. It takes everything you put in as it is.
Dental schools dont check your residency status until they accept you.

If you are a New York resident when you apply, you have to be a NY resident when you get accepted. If not, your acceptance is gone.

Ahh, ok...thanks for the advice.

Under this scenario, ds that are not particularly OOS friendly might end up "accepting" a whole class only to find out that they need to start the process from square one.

I know what you are saying.
They will look at aadsas and "temporarily" believe what you say in your application.

Lets say a non OOS-friendly school accept 100 only to find out that 95 are not instate. This is not likely to happen because noone is going to lie about the residency status. This is something that an applicant needs to be honest because the adcom will ask you eventually. The school will not have time to go over 2500+ applicant's residency.
