I received an interview for jan 28 from UDM and am grateful for it. I sent an email to them that I would love to be interviewed by them throughout the cycle but now that I am accepted to LECOM. Should I go even though I am interviewing for an alternate spot? I called to confirmed that all seats are offered so I'm competing against others that weren't accepted.

UDM has great clinical skills but the area is is sketchy and school looks like a psychiatric ward (metal fences) LOL. I honestly don't see myself living in Detroit due to cold weather. It is reputable and established school but TUITION for Detroit Mercy is more than LECOM.

LECOM is in a nice area, beaches, and weather. Right now they have D1's and so far people like it there. PBL will be changed next year for me and PBL will only be with dental students not med students. PBL is the only thing that worries me and I honestly don't know how to prepare for boards with PBL curriculum. I'm scared that I will spend most of my time trying to figure out whats on the test instead of studying the material. What happens if LECOM doesn't pan out? LECOM isn't sure if they will have sufficient patient pool. I don't like the idea of relocating in our 4th year.

any ideas?

First off congrats on your acceptance to LECOM, but i dont see the point of this thread.

You haven't yet had your interview at UDM and there is no guarantee that you will be accepted there or even put on the wait list and you are already asking which school to choose? Sounds like you are counting your chickens before they hatch.

Maybe save this thread for if you actually do get into UDM. And sorry I'm not trying to be mean or anything!

BU really isn't as bad as people make it...worst part is probably less chairs...but I promise you Boston's environment is 20x better than detroit..we all know that UDM is a great clinical school...

UDM is a stronger school clinically. there's no doubt about that at all. granted, you should take everything into consideration when you make a choice between schools, but clinical training is a huuuuge thing to consider (for me at least).

clinical strength is my number 1 factor .... then tuition + cost of living

I think I can deal with BU since in the real world we have to get our own patients anyways.

if only i can get into UTHSCSA lol
