So I just got back from a Neurobio midterm and I. bombed. I don't know what to do because it was 20 percent. I want to say I am at about a 85 or so before this midterm.

This class has a grading scale which I've never head before so I know where I stood before.

This midterm kicked my ass. I don't know if I even got a 50 percent...
It's past the drop deadline so I would get a W. If you drop before deadline it just disappears.

However, dropping this class would make next quarter extremely difficult and if I failed (aka, dropped or got Ds), I would not graduate.

I could always do very well on the next two exams, but she took 3 weeks to grade our first midterms and I'm scared I may have bombed it past repair.

What do guys?

Do you have a deadline to withdraw with a W? I would wait to get your score back if you can, perhaps you didn't do as poorly as you think you did.

Before the final. But I did. very poorly..

I also don't want to wait 3 weeks but I don't know. 🙁

It was so much recall and I was not used to such a memory-based tests not on actual learning.

If it really was a hard test and you prepared to the best of your ability, I would stay in the class. If everyone else is doing well and the average is high, yet you scored very low, then you aren't approaching the class in the right way and I would drop it.

I had a bad beginning to the first month of school (week 6 now). It kills me because I could have learned this stuff better. 🙁

Man I'm so devastated.

I agree that you should wait until you get your score back to decide, you might've done better than you thought.
Just remember that in a few years, you won't even remember what grade you got on this exam. It's not going to be a defining moment of your life.

Thanks<3
I understand. it's just a ****ty situation and I'm very impatient.

I decided I would see her tomorrow and go over my midterm (hopefully) and ask if she can put more weight on the final.

Having a few W's is not a big deal
But at my school, Ws don't exist unless you're waaaay too late. Is this an issue? Won't they see other people with no Ws and me with a big fat one...

The first thing you should do is relax. This is not a life or death issue when it comes to medical school admission, especially if it's your first W. I don't think obsessing over this is going to help your performance in other classes.

In my school, it's past the deadline to withdraw, so I would make sure to check.
Regardless, a W looks much better than a C.

Yeah like I said my school is weird + I started school months after you.

True but it'll make next quarter very hard. 🙁

A W here and there is no big deal. I had three on my transcript and I wasn't asked about it even once. Wait to withdraw if you can, there might be a curve.
