This may not be the right place to ask this but---

I really want to do device development as a physician. In fact, to some extent, it's the only real reason why I want to specialize; if it wasn't for this, I'd be super content doing FP and figuring out different healthcare delivery systems. Anyhoo, the problem is, I don't have an engineering background. Does anyone know what the best way would be for me to go about playing my cards so that I can get involved with/learn more about product development in medicine?

All advice is appreciated!

1. Find a physician at your school that has a lot of patents.
2. Kiss said physicians arse and try to establish them as your mentor.
3. Soak it up.

I had an idea for a device so I just talked to one of the bio engineering professors affiliated with our school. Try that.
