I am just wondering if you went thru classes saying "I could never do BLANK because I hated BLANK class". And, then found out while on rotations that you actually LOVED blank, despite your feelings for the class.

I guess, being in my second year, I am burned out and just not finding ANY class all that great at the moment....but I am wondering if the clinical stuff totally made you change your mind.

Dear Elle,

I think this is common, particularly at Kirksville, where they expect you to take a ridiculous amount of lecture before you leave for clinicals.

For example, I hated OB/GYN lectures at school...thought they were boring and had no interest in the field. When I found out I had that as my first clinical rotation...I was thinking at least I will get it out of the way. Well it was a tough month, but I really enjoyed it clinically much more than acdemically.

I think that is one of the points to third year is to find a specialty in which both the academic and clnical work are interesting to you. At this point at Kirksville, lecture is really a drag. Keep your eye on the prize which is boards and soon that big lecture hall will be a memory.
