sorry for long question. I understand Dental schools dont like cc credit, but I was wondering if anyone here got accepted to dental school while starting Community College first? also I wont take any science classes like bio and chem in cc, just the basics.

I did a bit of CC work back at the beginning of college, and I haven't heard any negative remarks about it thus far. As long as your prereqs aren't there and you have a good reason, I don't see this as being a dealbreaker.

Try to take as few prereqs as u can at CC...don't take biochem at CC for sure, lots of schools just won't accept it..in terms of what u should take at CC: (1) stupid GE/foreign language (if required at ur 4 year school) (2)math (3)bio (4) gen chem .
ppl do get accepted to DS from CC. kill ur DAT that helps

Yes, graduated with my associates before attending a 4-year university. Got accepted to my #1, never got asked anything about attending a CC. I wouldn't say its a major factor in the admissions process

I attended CC for 2 years before transferring to a 4-year university. Gathered a total of around 62 credits at CC. Took half of my dental pre reqs at CC. Received interviews at all 18 or so schools I applied to. Please do not feel disadvantaged because of the decision to attend CC. If anything, feel proud to have had a diverse academic experience in your undergraduate coursework.

I had a friend who got accepted to VCU. Her GPA was a 3.5 overall and she only had one leadership position. She didn't have much on her application. It just goes to show dental school accepts all types of different applicants. You definitely have a chance.

I went to cc and got an associates. I took gen bio and gen chem there. I got four interviews this past fall and four acceptances. No one even brought it up.

I still have no idea why I wasn't even offered an interview with VCU. It's my state school.
