but didn't think they would make the cut? Or applied and didn't get in? DO school averages for acceptances are lower than DDS so I am just wondering.

I've thought about it, but I want a more balanced lifestyle that I would have as an ob/gyn for example, and besides, dentistry is just a medical specialty in my mind.

I was definitely on the med school track but I realized that I wanted a more well-rounded and balanced lifestyle. I actually JUST made this decision at the end of my 3rd year as an undergrad.

haha i spent a whole year 300 hours of volunteering at the hospital, to realize that med wasnt for me, i was at a point where i was trying to decide between the two. dent for me now.

No. Not once.

I though about it, but dental school was another option for me, not some kind of backup plan. In fact I had dental school in mind before medical school. I don't have the patience to deal with the kind of crap physicians deal with.

I thought about medicine when I was six. Then I decided I would rather be a firefighter.

I also thought about medicine, then when I got down to the nitty gritty, it was dent all the way for me...🙂

My wife is a med student. After I saw the stuff she had to go through, and continues to have to go through, I knew med wasn't for me. She just finished her third year and I'm just starting, but I will finish before she does.

When she tells her med student friends that I am going to dental school they all say "I should have done THAT"!

That's funny, I didn't know that dentists took the MCAT, so I guess it is fair to compare the two. Oh wait, I didn't see any problems having to do with folding a box, or figuring out what the shape looks like from the top, front, or side on the MCAT. I also guess all of that zoology paid off because you'll need it to be a dentist. So since the MCAT and DAT are on two totally different levels, you really can't say it is easier to be a DO then DDS. And before you say I do not know what I'm talking about, I tutored someone studying the DAT and it is nothing compared to the MCAT. So I guess this is what it is like going into other peoples forums and talking about how my career choice is superior to all. It's not as fun as you make it out to be DDSBound, not sure I'd make a hobby out of it like you.

I wanted to be an MD for about 3 weeks in 2001. I was a sophomore in high school, ER was on every afternoon and a great new show called Scrubs was on TV.

It took a little shadowing and a few internet searches to realize it wasn't as interesting as TV made it look.

the difficulty of the DAT vs. the MCAT is totally subjective. I scored a 34 on the MCAT and a 20 on the DAT (22 the 2nd time)..

back to the pre-allo forum you go.. jb!🙂

ps- does smp in your user name stand for Special Masters Program? just wonderin..

No, the SMP is actually my initials. I felt like harassing DDSBound in his realm since he has nothing better to do then start arguments in the allo forums. I'll let all you pre-dentals back to your forum. I would also suggest not listening to anything DDSBound says, since he is full of it to put it politely. Good luck with all of your endeavors.

Never thought about it.
