So I finished my DAT September 9th. I ended up with: AA 23 TS 24 PAT 20

cGPA is 3.82, sGPA 3.86, BCP 3.85 from UC Irvine. I have unusual but cool EC's, which I hope will help.

I'm applying this cycle but I'm assuming schools won't see my scores for another week. I know this is relatively late in the cycle, and everyone I've known has told me that taking the DAT so late will work against me. I submitted my AADSAS app July 9th, so hopefully I'll hear from some schools soon.

Is it really that big of a hinderance to take the DAT this late and do you think this will adversely affect my chances at California schools? It matters, my top choice is UCLA, followed by UCSF and Penn.

With that GPA and DAT, you don't have to worry. Actually, you have no choice. Apply and pray. I'm sure u ll get interviews soon

No offense, but these threads get annoying, repetitive, and the answer is pretty obvious.

Yes, theoretically of course taking dat this late will 'adversely' affect your chances. But you also know that when you apply isnt the only thing that matters, otherwise you wouldnt have felt the need to post your stats (which are awesome). You know your stats are well above average. You know the answer to your own question.

No one on here can tell you if you are going to get into your top school. You cant change anything anyway until next cycle. Good luck, im sure you will get in somewhere.

Im sorry to be crass, i have 4 exams next monday and im cranky because of it. lol

PS better have a good DAT than a crappy one and put your app in early.

Hey man, no offense taken. I hear many mixed stories, about people with awesome stats who get rejected late in the cycle and those with average stats which get in to their top choices late in the cycle. Just looking for some personal experiences with taking the DAT late... usually it's "Is August 15th too late?" or "Is August 25th too late?", but I felt I was pushing it with September 9th.

I guess it's a stupid question, but it feels like at this point acceptances and rejections aren't as clear cut and way more random than if you get your score in early.

yea admissions is kinda random. I dont think adcom takes it as seriously as we do.

But you have really good stats. I would still apply. Though you probably would have a much higher chance of going to your top choice school had you applied earlier.

fyi, i know tons of ppl who are getting pre-dec interviews who finished there apps late august.. ppl spread these rumors that "ohh you will never get an interview before dec if your app is a lil late blah blah blah" its all bull..

if you dont apply you wait a whole year again.. step back and look at the big pic man
