HI all!

i had my first interview sometime last week, and I think it went pretty well. It was casual and conversational throughout, and I think I did a pretty OK job of answering questions and getting some good points about myself across.

What would you guys say is a good way to tell if an interview "went well"?

Thanks

If you get accepted, it went well. But seriously, just try to not think about it, because there's nothing we can do but enjoy life as we wait 🙂

Congrats on finishing your first interview 😀! At this point, It's a waiting game, since you probably can't add updates or new info that could tip the scales in your favor. Based on folks who've reported their experiences on SDN, there are some who've felt their interviews went perfectly and didn't get accepted but also those who were sure they bombed get accepted too. Anything could happen lol

Early interviews tend to be a good sign though. Hoping you get good news! 😀

After all, Not every interviewer will flat out say what they thought

Don't put to much stock in how your interviewers are react after the interview ends. Not only is the interview only just one aspect of your interview, but interviewers can act very differently depending on the person. Some may give you great feedback, but won't give a hint they liked you, while others may seem really nice, but might still give you brutal feedback.

There is not much you can do besides wait, and it would be torture to try and guess what the interviewer may have thought of you.

Thanks guys! I never dreamed I could do so much waiting!!!! First waiting for MCAT scores, AMCAS verification, Secondary completion emails, Interview Invites, and now decisions!

Hopefully this patience will get us lots of patients, eh? (Is there an awful joke thread I can submit that in😉 )

Yeah the waiting is definitely the worst part now, but at least at this point we have done everything we can and it is out of our hands.

Yeah the waiting game sucks! I'm hoping to hear from my top choice in the next 2 weeks so I can stop going. Who has the time really...

I just want to ask someone... and this seems like the right thread.

When I walk out from the interview, I feel like it was okay/maybe went well.
I want to forget about my interviews after I am done, but random moments from the interview keep popping up in my head and after about x3 days I feel like I totally screwed up the interview.

Is it just me..................?

These are my feelings exactly. Every single time.

You can never really judge how the interview went based on how you felt leaving or how you feel a few days after. You could have had a great interview, and still end up being waitlisted. You could have had a "meh" interview and still end up accepted. Remember that the interview is just one piece of the puzzle. Just move on to the next and try to stay sane while waiting for your decision.

I just keep praying they'll dwell on the rest of my application packet and not the interview, which I'm always certain I've bombed.

same here. I also feel like unless you totally bombed the interview (~10% of interviewees) or if you totally rocked the interview (another ~10% interviewees), the final decision will probably end up based on the other parts of your application... just my 2cents
