So TMDSAS has 3 essays.
Essay 1: PS
Essay 2: Educational Diversity
Essay 3 (optional): Unique life experiences not addressed anywhere on my app
So I did essays 1 and 2 and had my pre health adviser look at them. He said they were great and we made a few edits, etc. then he said I'm good to go. He told me not to do essay 3 because essay 3 is usually reserved for like something crazy/sad to explain aberrations in my application. Plus, I literally don't have any unique life experiences. I had a friend echo the same sentiment, as he did not do the essay and got 4 II's/2 acceptances this past cycle. That being said, I submitted without doing it. I don't have any unique life experiences not addressed anywhere else on the app anyways. Like I would have been stumped.
Now I'm having other friends saying that was a dumb move..and now I feel like ish. Did I screw up my app by not doing an "optional" essay?
Otherwise, my numbers are fine. High GPA, high sGPA, >508 MCAT, 600 or so clinical hours, strong LORs/PS, 3000 hours research, employment throughout college, recipient of prestigious scholarships
