Hello,

I am going to graduate with a 3.9 GPA but I didn't get into PBK. Is it that bad? Does it really matter? I didn't even know it existed until my friend screamed and said that she got in and that it was really prestigious.

Have a great day everyone.

PBK does follow you around in some circles (check out the New York Times marriage section for a silly example) and it's a neat little thing to stick in your academic resume, but no, it doesn't really matter.

Oh, great. Then, I don't have to worry about this.

I want to go to med school and I don't think the ADCOM would notice if I was part of PBK or not. At least, I hope that 😀

You paid for that? 😕

Maybe I am in the minority, but I think paying the small dues fee for PBK is worth it. A lot of millennials have never even heard of PBK, but it is still very well-respected by the older generations.

And OP, your GPA speaks for itself. PBK really has no little to no effect on admissions.

I asked this a few weeks ago--found out that people who are in it usually* say it's great/people who aren't usually* say it's a ridiculous waste of money or "we've got Dodgson here...nobody cares"...then people berating OP for having honest question "like"...

If you want to know how it plays into allopathic med school acceptance, @gyngyn's opinion is the one on this thread to zero in on.

*usually, not always

I dunno, I'm part of it and I don't really see the fuss, but maybe that's because I got accepted right before graduating and haven't actually done anything with them, haha. All they do is keep sending me mail asking for money...

Same. Can't even figure out why I got the invite--didn't do anything that lots of other students didn't do as well or better...so random.
