Wondering about this. As a privileged straight white dude, I was really worried about diversity essay prompts, as I have never written something like that before and have no clue as to how I fit in. However, it seems that almost all the schools (that I've chosen to apply to) have prompts such as using future medical education to advocate or asking about experiences working with diverse groups, which are a lot easier for (me) to write about due to my extracurricular experiences. Very few (maybe 2-3 out of 25) have asked me directly about contributing to the diversity of the class. This is my first time applying, has it always been this way, and turns out I'm just crazy? I'm interested, and wondering if I'm falling into some trap I can't recognize.

Diversity is a lot more than just "hey this person isn't a white guy."

Plus, it's not like adcoms are sitting around going "Hey, this person fits into this underrepresented group, their app gets +10 points." It's a lot more nuanced than that. My school didn't change our admissions processes at all in light of the supreme court decision.

Diversity is NOT about Ethnicity.

It's about what unique characteristics you bring to the Class. What's cool about YOU?

So put your thinking cap on. Introspection is a required trait for a doctor.

PS. You being into nutrition or exercise or "health" is not unique.

Welcome to the forums.

Did you not write your secondaries first?

Just because you didn't encounter "popular" prompts doesn't mean you won't be asked similar questions during a potential interview.

This; I'm an URM, but only touched briefly on that in my diversity statements. It might've been a good move, maybe a bad one.
