i called nyu dental school today and found out that they are looking for applicants with a 3.5 GPA and a 18AA on their DATs. i was shocked cuz that is like really high from last year, also, i dont know who thinks nyu is easy but with stats like that, i belive nyu is ONE of the hardest skools to get into. anywys....if anyone has any input or reactions...i would like to read about them....

i want miss colombia....and miss venezuela also.
...does they want me? (i know, i know...the answer is probably)

anyways,

nyu still needs to get the top applicants to choose their program.
..and last time i checked, nyu is still over 3 times as expensive as the typical state school.

Although I am not applying to NYU, I would recommend that you still submit your application. Just because they are 'looking' doesn't necessarily mean that those figures are set in stone. As far as level of difficulty - yes that makes them a bit more challenging, but I think there are some schools, such as UW, OHSU, UCLA, and so on that are much more difficult to get into, not only from a numbers stand-point but residency, research expereince, and so on as well.

Most probably those 3.5gpa students they are looking for will get into other schools, thus forcing nyu to accept people with lower stats.

You got it!

I would expect NYU to reach 3.5 avg when the state schools are around 3.8 avg.

That being said, NYU will keep their avg Gpa in the 3.3-3.4 range for a while...which is still pretty damn good considering how big the class is

There are waves of change here, but it will take sometime for the effects to kick in.

so pretty much my take on this would be that nyu...which is a school that students usually attend with lower stats (3.0-3.2) is all of a sudden a school that is not so easy to get into. what i am curious about is that what is a safe gpa now for schools such as bu, nyu, case....etc.

3.3-3.4 gpa with an 18 DAT and you have a damn good shot...unless you blow the interview

If you have around 3.0-3.2 you will need 19-20 on DAT

If you have a under 3.0 a 20+ is a must

This is what I heard some of the interviewers say in the hallways and elevators. Therefore I "Heard" this and did not see it in stone

bah....NYU is looking for 3.5 students, and Im looking to bone a supermodel...both are just wishful thinking......face it, due to its sheer size coupled with its enormous expense, NYU will ALWAYS be the safety school, no matter how many new things the Dean does.....to deny it would be ignorant...

only diff i can see is that lower stats might get waitlisted, whereas in the past they would get accepted, but they will still eventually get in....

as far as dat goes everyone has been doing so well i would expect a much higher average. look at all the dats taken recently not one is below a 21

qaz what are you talking about??

alot of people get under 20s on DATs it is just that SDN students get much higher scores..
