Did you ever wonder how people get admitted to med school without taking the MCAT? I remember when I applied, was looking through some of the admissions stats for schools and I noticed that it would say "97% of matriculants took the MCAT." What about the other 3% (or so)? How did they avoid it? Any thoughts?

I've heard a couple of schools don't require it, I think Hopkins was one. As in, you're so brilliant and amazing you don't even need to take it. 🙂

At the BS/MD program at my undergrad, the folks I knew who were in it STILL had to take the MCAT. If they didn't get a 30, they got kicked out of the program!

wow, i wish i was one of those 3%.

but...at least it builds comradery!!!

Yeah BA/MD programs. Rice/Baylor doesn't require MCAT.

some bs/md do require mcat to progress to the md portion

I always thought most BS/MD programs required MCAT. I still can't figure it out how people avoid them MCAT.

My school requires it, but I definately noticed on the "statistics" that some people (about 3-5%) don't take it each year. Oh well who knows.

Some BS/MD, Early Identification Programs, Post-bac consortiums/links

A guy at my school got into Wake Forest w/o taking the MCAT...apparently they judge you by your stats through the end of sophmore year...you have to be really great, yada yada yada...
