I took part I on Dec 14th, but no scores yet. I am a little concerned because most people are getting their scores within two weeks. Is anyone in the same situation?

Raluca-I studied really hard for 4 months.asda papers and explanations are a must,it will train your mind to answer the kinda Q they ask.esp recent ones are great help.But i really expected more u know...I just hope I get into program asap.I have really had a long hard journey.

What else do we read and from where apart form the asda papers and decks and kaplan material ?

i am so sorry, even i have only for 4 exams. rest all i used to read up from the books. i dont know if there are any explanations for recent exams. but reading from the book will help you. best of luck

I got my score today. I did pretty bad .....
I have a Q for the People who have gone through the admission process, is it better to give part 2 or retake part 1? Does having done part 2 weigh more during admission for FTD's? Please help me make a decision.

I am thrilled about how I did in anatomy, but the other three sections (especially dent anat/occlusion) I felt like I could have done better.

What do you think my chances are for various residencies, considering I have a 3.64 GPA through 1.5 years of dental school? (I obviously need to perform well on part II of the boards and in the rest of my classes.)

Well thanks for the kind words... My main study tools were Decks, First Aid, and Released Exams. I know, nothing special hugh? This isn't what most people want to hear but it's the truth...I really feel like the key is learning the material during your classes because then you can just review that stuff and spend more time focusing on learning the random stuff that you only see covered on board material. You know what i mean... like random cancers or nerves in the leg??!?! (I mean we want to be dentist's right.. why is this important.. ha) Also, while you want to see everything at LEAST one time.. be sure and know your basics and high yield info! By that I mean... when taking the practice tests you will see what topics they keep asking questions about... So learn this material and don't miss questions on that stuff.. they should make you happy when you see questions on them!

As far as materials... I thought all 3 were great and useful in their own way. So i would recommend them all. I did decks first and then the First Aid book (however some people in my class did it reverse and said they thought it was better) and then practice exams. You must do these practice exams... not because of repeats so much (i only had maybe 10-12).. but because it lets you get a feel for what type of questions they ask and how they want you to apply the info. Decks are good for DA and Anatomy but not for biochem! First Aid is good for just about everything except DA (do decks for this) and biochem (so notice the trend here.. so do biochem from something else).

That's really all I've got.. I mean just study HARD and review a lot! You will never remember all the bacteria or biochem pathways during the exam if you don't keep them fresh in your mind throughout your studies.

Can you please elaborate on the practice exams that you're talking about, what are they and where are they available, and how long did you study ?

thanks again peeps! I'm talking about the released ADA old exams. You can buy them on ASDA's website I believe or find them on the internet from someone. Sorry I already sold mine to a freshman. They are just old exams with questions that were given in years past. Very helpful! I studied very hard for ~1 month. However, I began reviewing material I was comfortable with (like basic physio concepts, etc) probably around ~1.5 months. Yall can do it just don't give up!

Only by snail mail. The joint commission mails out scores to the applicant, their respective school if applicable, and the state the applicant chose. The first one to receive it is the applicant. The state board receives it a few days later and I understand the school sometimes takes up to a month after to receive the scores. Something to keep in mind!
