Did you MATCH OR NOT? lets hear it

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Damn straight kids......we're going....somewhere. I just know I ain't scramblin' 😀😀😀😀😀

😱I DIDN'T MATCH 🙁 🙁......................BUUUUUUUUT I was able to get a CA-1 out-of-match position 😀 😀 😀 😀. I guess NRMP got me for $90 since I never had to submit a rank list.

MATCHED! whew! a weight is lifted. Just waiting for Thursday....😎

So I matched anesthesia, but not internship year 🙁 and so I found out the city where I matched anesthesia and not too happy! But oh well, let scramble for internship begin...

Congrats, Lane. Welcome to the wide world of anesthesiology.

First you'll have to survive internship.
Thanks!

I'm really excited about matching and can't wait to start passing gas, but staring at internship a few months away makes me

matched advanced, found out the city, now i've gotta scramble...

I get to be an anesthesiologist 😍. And an intern 👍/👎

I feel a little bit like I'm going to throw up - like "oh my god, what I've always wanted to do and what I've been working so hard for for SO long, it's really really going to happen now, and it's going to be AWESOME!" Why that makes me want to puke, not sure... :barf:

anyone who matched advanced and knows the city care to share? Or is that a match violation? (I failed to read their friendly "ADVISORY" the other day, it was too long)

out of curiosity

does it tell you the city or do you have to call to find out the city?

As an osteopathic applicant, I did not interview at any preliminary programs with the rationale that I would scramble for an osteopathic internship should I match into an Advanced position. My ROL was a healthy mix of Advanced and Categorical positions without supplementary lists for internships under those Advanced selections.

Looking at the NRMP website, the "Congratulations, you've matched" message for such circumstances as this seems ambiguous. Am I to understand that this means that I have matched categorically or that it is still possible that I have matched into an Advanced program?

If it says you matched, then most likely you matched a 4-year program. I matched for advanced, but not PGY-1 and it says "congrats you matched in advanced but not your preliminary year", or something to that effect.

This is something I kinda expected if I got my #1 on my match list. That being said, My #1 has prelim-surg spots available for anesthesia residents that they don't match into. You must 'scramble' for them. Orignially, I was fine with doing prelim-surgery, but now I am wondering if I should try and match a prelim-medicine first and use the prelim-surg as a back-up. All my other choices on my match list had prelim programs attached.

Any thoughts? I only applied to programs out West.

how did you find out what city you matched in (advanced)? BTW there are 22 transitional spots still open

If it says "Congratulations, you have matched" that can either mean you matched to a categorical (4 yr program) or an advanced+prelim. Unless your list only contains categorical programs or only advanced programs you should not be able to tell which program type you matched based on the above NRMP response.

Matched! 😍

Could they possibly draw this process out any longer??

I matched! Jokes on the program that put me on their list 🙂

Noone, not even the schools knows where the open spots are. You can goto the NRMP website and see the regions and open spots, but not specifics. Those get released to all schools tomorrow morning.

Can someone post the open transitional year spots???? for this year

Won't know till tomorrow but here's the break down:
Offered Unfilled
Western Region
152 0

Central Region
354 11

Southern Region
188 7

Northeastern Region
285 4

Total
979 22

ok, I'll admit I'm one of the unfortunate ones to scramble. Any words of wisdom will be appreciated. :scared:

Also matched. But some of my ortho friends were not so fortunate. Good luck to everyone of Thursday.

Where are people getting the data about unfilled programs? I just checked the NRMP site and I don't see a report, just a fellowship report.

In the same position with the same question...

Congrats to everyone 😀😀😀

1. Login
2. Click "my reports" tab
3. The 2nd choice: regional statistics by specialty

Matched Categorical.
