Hey all, just wanted to say congrats to all that have matched, and good luck to those scrambling. Let us know where you'll be heading when you find out tomorrow!

Just remember that you would have gave your right **** to be in your current position as of last Sunday night. You are going to be an anesthesiologist, so relax, have a brewsky or 10 and enjoy.

I'm really nervous too. I don't think it's fair they know before we do...🙁
I'm doing my best to not stress myself out today, trying to stay busy with various tasks, but it's really hard not to worry:scared:

My bowels are violent again..... this is too much. Just tell me where the F I am going!!!!

I'm spending my time imagining my reaction to each program on my list. Some are:

"Well, alright." 🙂
"......huh...." 😕
"That's interesting..." 😛
"Holeeeeeee crap!" 😱
"Are you freaking kidding me?!?" 😡

I'm spending my time re-reading all of my post-interview e-mails from programs in an effort to over-analyze the situation.

Well, to be honest, I'm actually playing Call of Duty 4, but getting my a** blown up by Russians/Arabs only adds to my frustration. So I'm also watching the last few episodes of Season One of Battlestar Galactica, reading some comics, and drinking a bottle of wine. Later on tonight, if/when I can't sleep, I'll partake in a few glasses of scotch.

I wasn't prepared for how long this day would be. I mean, I'm usually just fine with killing time all day, but this is nuts. I'm not even all that worried about where I'll end up, I'd just like to KNOW.

Scotchnwater: I love that approach of overanalyzing. Maybe that semicolon means something before the final sentence....

Good luck to all with the match tomorrow-see you in the OR's

Too bad they don't screen adequately for racism.

thank god for wine. 😍

It just occurred to me: i ranked my last program (the program that shall not be named) exclusively as an advanced spot with no pgy1 year. my 'did i match' email said i matched (no mention of only an advanced year)--meaning i didn't match there. woo hoo!!!

just thought i'd share...

15 more hours...

Subclavian and mcfreak, how's the scramble going? I found a surgery prelim at a hospital with an anesthesiology program. It's a really good program but obviously a little bittersweet when reading this forum. Does anyone know the chances of slipping into a PGY2 year at the same hospital? I hope everyone else in the scramble is having good outcomes, and good luck to you all tomorrow.

there is no way I can sleep tonight! I hate suprises and this seems to be the worst type of suprise!

seeing how far down your rank list you went is making me super nervous... oh well, at least i get to be an anesthesiologist :scared:

ditto. hence the "I think I'm gonna puke" thread. PMNV: pre-match nausea/vomiting.

there has been no vomiting, but still.

in his defense, the guys shooting at you in COD4 are... russian and arab.

so sorry.

congrats on matching though. that goes for everyone. and for those scrambling, good luck and remember that people do leave spots during the year, so if you didn't find one now - keep looking.

What an absolutely idiotic thing to say. There's minimal differences (an extra elective or two) between most Transitional year and Preliminary medicine programs. Both are essentially a year of Internal Medicine with some electives.

There's a reason why there's countless hundreds of Preliminary Surgery positions that never fill. Those jobs suck.

Why are you ALWAYS picking fights with people or calling them names? Are you just a really unhappy person?

Second...the TY I landed has 3 blocks of medicine (2 inpatient, 1 elective), 2 blocks peds (1 inpt, 1 clinic), 1 block surgery, 1 block ER (7 required), 6 blocks ELECTIVES, and 3 weeks vacation

ignoring the fact we get membership to golf clubs and athletic clubs, etc...I'd say this is substantially different from an IM prelim
