Everyone wants to know! Come here for comfort or celebration!!! I matched 😀, but I have already heard of some that didn't 🙁.

i matched as well. 😀 My heart skipped a beat!

I had a voicemail on my phone at lunch, and an email from the dean ambiguously entitled "match." Luckily, the message was from some Subaru dealer in Brooklyn, and the dean's email said something to the effect of, "If you did NOT hear from me a few minutes ago, you matched!"

Thank heavens! I didn't expect to be this happy/relieved!:biglove::luck:

Yessssir, now its time for a Guinness or two!:luck:

Holler! Congrats to all! It is nice to have the feeling of employment! 🙂

We're sorry, you did not match to any position.

sorry to hear that 🙁. Quite shocking given your great ROL- must have been another tough year! What's the strategy for tomorrow?

I matched. Congrats to everyone who did! Good luck to those of you who are scrambling.

I also matched🙂......it is an awesome feeling! I'm sorry to all those who did not match. Best of luck tomorrow

I matched. I didn't think I was that nervous until I opened the e-mail and peed my pants a little. Good luck to those scrambling, wish there was something I could do to help.

Matched! I bow to thee almighty NRMP gods

I thought they were going to provide a little more information like if I matched into a categorical or advanced program but I guess not. Damn them!!

Hope everything goes well for everybody scrambling. My heart goes out to you.

Good luck to everyone on Match Day. Time to drink...😀

matched, big load off the shoulders...

best of luck to those scrambling (20+ spots in EM?)

Sorry xaelia, I didn't mean to be insensitive right after your post. Good luck to all in the scramble as well. Looks like there are still a handful of spots that will be open (29 unfilled) and the new program in Kentucky adds another 6.

I matched! My internet connection crashed at my house so I had to call my dad to check my e-mail for me. It was painful, but now I'm so excited!

I matched! Huzzah! Best of luck to those scrambling... A round of Guinnesses for all :luck:

I did not match :-( ric804medic how can you tell that there are spaces open? And where the spaces are open, I thought I could not tell until tomorrow at noon?

Yay! I matched  Congrats to everyone who matched...

Off to enjoy a Guinness straight from St. James' Gate. The only way...:luck:

I was wondering the same. Go to the "My Reports" button on the left side of the nrmp website when you are logged in. Just gives you general info. So sorry about this, let me know if any of you need help with editing or anything.

Only 30 spots for EM to scramble. Good luck to all who are scrambling.

There are 27 or 29 unfilled positions. I forgot the exact number. The list of unfilled positions will be released tomorrow at noon. However, the number of unfilled positions and whether applicants matched or not was released today to Deans' offices.

:biglove:Yay! So happy to have matched!! Now on to celebrate! Happy St. Patrick's Day!! :luck:

So sorry to hear you didn't match. The list of programs with unfilled spots isn't available until tomorrow, but if you log in to NRMP and go to my reports then click on regional match statistics by speciatly you can see the number of unfilled spots by region. I'm not sure if the new program in TN is included in those numbers or not since they are in the scramble, but weren't in the match.

congrats to all!! Hope the scramble goes well for those of you that have to do it.

matched! somebody prank paged me at 11:15 am and I almost jumped off the couch I was lounging on and my sphincter tone definitely stepped up a few notches. The page said 80085. quick relief, but scary all the same. I'm trying to find out who it was and no one has fessed up. Good luck to all who need it tomorrow.

29 categorical EM, 1 advanced EM (you would need to scramble for a prelim, if you don't already have one). Also, don't overlook the two IM-EM positions available -- better than taking a prelim and waiting, and if a spot opens up in a categorical program, you might be able to transfer...

Good luck to all who are scrambling (as well as all who matched, but don't know where yet)!

Congratulations! You have matched.

alright step 1 down👍, now just counting the hours until thursday....tick tick tick...

matched.

29 seems like a high number of unfilled positions compared to last year.

So glad to have matched. 🙂

Good luck everyone.

Sorry to ask again but can someone list the breakdown of unfilled spots by region? It could be helpful to scramblers as some programs usually don't fill and can be narrowed down by region. Didn't help last year because there were only 5-6 spots to scramble into.

What is the breakdown by region?

Unfilled PGY-1 Spots by Region

0 West
3 Central
7 South + 1 PGY-2
19 Northeast

I'll bet most of the NE ones are in NYC (they were last year), and that the Central ones will be in Michigan. The Southern ones, probably Chattanooga (that will be a nice program in a nice place when they get off the ground).

My condolences to those who did not match. I was in your shoes a little over 3 years ago, yet it worked out well in the end. 30 spots unfilled is A LOT of spots.

Here are some tips for scramblees:

The scramble is all done over ERAS now, and most programs with open spots will not accept calls from applicants. Typically a secretary will screen calls.

On Scramble Day, make sure you send your ERAS application to EVERY SINGLE PROGRAM with open spots, regardless of location. At this point you can't pick and choose.

Make sure you have your phone with you at all times. If a program calls you to offer a spot and you don't answer, they likely will move on to someone else.

If a program calls and offers you a spot, take it. Don't turn down an offer just because you're waiting to hear from a "better" program. A spot in EM is a spot, and the last thing you want to do is end up with nothing at the end of the day. Potentially that could end your EM career then and there.

Finally, apply to all of the open Transitional Year programs as well. If you don't scramble into EM at least you should be able to get one of those, and it's far better to do transitional than a Preliminary medicine or surgery year.

Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions.

MATCHED! 😱😀🙄🙂

The Data from 2007 was:
Emergency Medicine** Total spots-1,384, Total Applicants-1,669,
U.S. matched-1,092 U.S. not matched-89, Other matched-265, Other not matched-223
**this data includes PGY1 and PGY2 positions

Total spots-1,384
Total matched-1,357
Unfilled spots- 27

The Data from 2008 so far:
Unfilled spots (PGY1-29), Unfilled spots (PGY2- 1)
Total- 30

I don't think UT is included because they weren't able to participate in the Match. If they were included in those numbers, that means there is only 1 other spot at a different program in the Southern region (7-6=1). Does that follow recent trends?

I matched!!! 😀😀😀 Best St. Patty's Day ever! :luck: Dying to know where now....

I thought there were only 5 unfilled spots in last year's match?

Thanks for all the help guys! I appreciate it! I'll let you know how tomorrow goes...as of right now my entire family and then some is converging on OH to help me scramble...hope all the extra phones help!

Good luck to those that are scrambling. I was in your shoes last year, and while it sucks, you get through it. DocFrog, glad to hear you have family coming in to help you!

I don't know where that 27 number is coming from, but I assure you there were NOT 27 spots available for the scramble last year.

Did you match Sweet Tea? How about McNinja?

I believe University of Tennessee -- Chattanooga only submitted 3 spots to the scramble. They filled 3 spots outside of the match a few weeks ago. So out of the 7 unfilled positions in the South, at most 3 are from Chattanooga.

See Rock City!

See Ruby Falls!

...if you've ever been near there, you'll get it.

Good luck in the scramble for those that didn't! :luck: My thoughts will be with you.
