Hi everyone,

Just want to apologize if there’s already a thread about this. I didn’t get accepted to UC davis it is the closest UC from where I live and I liked the school, I’ve applied to almost all of them haven’t heard back from any except Davis. At this point I am thinking about just going to CSU to get my undergraduate, my question is will this make it harder from to get accepted to dental school, I have good sGPA but my overall isn’t as good because I moved in from a foreign country and had C’s in english and psychology which dropped my overall GPA. I’m kinda on the edge right now don’t know what to do and pretty nervous.

Thank you in advance

Sorry for the disappointing news. The good news its that going to CSU or UC shouldn't have any bearing on whether or not you get into dental school! Just try and stay positive. It doesn't matter what school you go to as long as you make the most of it and are happy with where you are. Take advantage of any resources and do well in your classes and try to have some balance between your academics and personal life!

It's not over! Go to CSU for the first year and apply again to UC schools as a transfer. Just make sure you get good grades and are involved somehow.

i also agree with ucd2018

Yeah or even look into local CCs and transfer after. I didn't have the option of going straight to a 4 year so I went to a CC then transferred and am very happy that I did this. There are some excellent CCs in the Sacramento area.

Based on the wording of your post (and your previous posts), it seems like you're already at CC and are trying to transfer over. The good news is the name of your undergrad doesn't matter to dental schools - only your GPA and your DAT scores do (of course your ECs matter too, but academically, only those two).

Although I didn't do the CC -> CSU route, I did go to a CSU (for all four years) and I ended up at UCLA 🙂 Going to a CSU does not make it harder to get in, you just have to keep your GPAs high and perform well on your DAT.

Good luck!

CSU is fine. Just don't go to University of Phoenix.
