HAVE YOU POSTED IN THE PULLED OFF WAITLIST POSTS YET??????? Something you must do immidiately.

Congrats!!! this must be a great feeling, enjoy it

looks like the first waitlist pull of the season. kudos EW... what's the 1779 anyway? your ATM PIN code or sumthin? Or the year your great-great-great granpappy arrived at the eastern shores of the states? or maybe the number of days from when you graduated high school to registering on SDN. yeah, that must be it 🙂

EW, just wondering, (as I have recently been placed on this waitlist and am hoping to get off of it!) what kind of "short note" did you write them to say you want to stay on the list (per their request)? Did you just write a "short" note or something fancier and more compelling? Also did you send it back ASAP? Your comments would be greatly appreciated.

here is what i sent to them:

Dear Medical Admissions Committee:

I graciously accept a place on your Waiting List for the entering class of 2002. I appreciate the Committee?s continuing consideration of my application.

After attending several interviews, I can say with certainty that Rochester is my first choice. The Double Helix curriculum is perfectly suited to my style of learning, and it is a cutting-edge educational philosophy that I would be honored to be a part of. In addition, I love Rochester and I can definitely see myself as being part of that community. The University of Rochester has everything I am looking for.

I anxiously await the possibility of accepting a place in your 2002 entering class. I will forward all transcripts and pertinent materials as soon as they become available. The phone number and email at which I can be reached can be found below.

Sincerely,

Emmett Whitaker

i also had my thesis advisor send a supplementary letter and i also updated my transcripts when they became available. so, yeah, it was more of a letter than a note, but it seemed to work. hope this helps.

Thanks so much for posting your letter. I was feeling kind of unmotivated about writing it, until I saw your post about getting off of the waitlist. That's a great thing! Maybe (a big maybe) it will happen to me too.

no problem at all. if there is anythng else i can help with please let me know. i only wanna spread dee joy!! the main thing @ rochy is to make sure they know you are highly interested. just show your interest and you've got a great shot.

Can I ask how they notified you? Also, when did you interview? I also am on the waitlist, and my letter was very similar to yours. Congrats!

Hey EW, I just wanted to say congrats--you must be over the moon!

thanks for the kind words kids.....now i just have to decide between pitt and rochester!

here's the info:

interview 10/11
wait list (snail mail): 12/5
acceptance (snail mail): 1/19/02

this wasn't so bad after all...

😀 😀 😀

"After attending several interviews, I can say with certainty that Rochester is my first choice"

EW, do you have any qualms about saying this, especially since you are considering other schools? I was going to write it to, but I am worried someone will hold me to it--thoughts?
Rochester is really second choice at the moment. But I don't want to say that, ya know?

hey....
nope, no qualms about saying that at all.....because at the time rochester was my first choice. letters such as these are by no means "legally binding," so you don't have to worry about anyone holding you to anything. but, if you do have issues saying that, modify it! say that "rochester is among my top choices," or something to that effect. you don't have to say that rochester is your second choice. be a wordsmith. remember...your primary objective is to reiterate your intentions and show your enthusiasm.

fire me some more!

hey ed....i sent you a private message. thanks for the encouragement!
