I just got my grades for this semester, and there was really unexpected one B in my grades. I thought I did everything okay and expected 4.0 for this semester..

I am going to complain ASAP anyway, but my concern is because of this B, my cGPA went down from 3.8 to 3.79...
I'm really worried and concerned about this..

I will be out of town this week and will not be able to come back until the
end of January, so I might not be able to resolve this unfair grade.

I graduated this winter, and this will be my final GPA, so if my grade couldn't be changed, is it something that I should worry about?

Psychologically, it seems like to me there are a huge difference between 3.79 and 3.80, which is only mere 0.01 difference. The whole situation is so stressful, and frustrating.

Please let me know Thanks.

the difference is .01

but seriously, I know it feels like a big deal. But I really wouldn't spend your time worrying about it because either way, your GPA is well above average. If say you had a 3.49, I'd tell you to try and bump it up. However your GPA is very solid.

Please don't joke... I'm serious, and I was so frustrated by the fact that I didn't make 3.8 range. Even in MSAR stats, students were divided like 3.5~3.79, and 3.8~4.0,

It's HUGE OP. Getting a 3.79 is pretty much the end of the world unless you can score a 40 on the MCAT. Unlike 3.78 vs 3.79 (which is meaningless) a 3.79 and a 3.80 are WORLDS apart. Better start saving up so you can bribe some DO adcoms....

HINT: Read before posting. Do your research.

That's a purely arbitrary binning. Don't sweat it. Seriously.

.8>>>>>>.79

Like others said, better start looking into DO or SMPs

They are just arbitrary cutoffs for grouping purposes....

no big deal, just something to bring up in your PS/interviews obviously.

Only thing I can think of is if it affects your Latin honors which would be annoying but not a huge deal. I know 3.8 is the cutoff at my school. As for med school shouldn't matter in the tiniest microscopic bit.

Congrats on finishing!

Eh, it's not as big a deal as you think it is but you might want to bring it up in your personal statement. Just talk about how you are planning on overcoming the difference in GPA emotionally.

It's that kind mentality that something that is priced at $1.99 is significantly cheaper than $2.00 but in reality is essentially the same thing. No big deal.

it's so annoying that my gpa went down to 3.7 range because of this freaking class that wasn't even necessary... it was just one of the elective courses,,
I took that course because it was well known as easy A course..

and it seems like in order to bring up my gpa to 3.8 range, I need to take at least 7 more credits and get A from them...

I will go see her tomorrow, if she can fix it up my grade,

If I will not be able to see her tomorrow, I need to pay $375 penalty to reschedule my flight to buy some time to resolve this grade..

I hate this situation....

woah...I think we need to chill about this a bit. that is pretty annoying, but it's really not that big of a difference, and I'm sure there are many people would kill to have a 3.79.

OP, your greatest concern right now should be your level of maturity.

Someone acting the way you are over a 3.79 vs. a 3.8 gpa really says something to me. It would be different if you were perhaps a freshman or underclassmen but you are about to graduate for God's sake and you still have this mentality??

Why bother asking the question if you're not going to listen to the answers? You have a bunch of people on here telling you (correctly) that there is absolutely no practical difference between a 3.79 and a 3.8. If I were you, I'd be more worried about asking a professor to change your grade. Grade grubbing like that always has the potential to come back to bite you later on.

OP you sound like a clown.

Wasn't there a thread just like this a little bit ago... "oh no'es I am .01 below a 3.9", "brb cancelling my flight, I just got .01 below a 3.8".

Nevermind. Upon further thought, I conclude you be trollin'.

Frazier, is that your picture in your avatar? You're one slick lookin' guy. jk

I just wanted to see how I got B from this course,,,

She didn't hand back almost any of my assignments, and

I know some people who didn't even turn in a couple of papers

still got A from this course... her grading criteria is not really clear..

I think It is very unfair, and I told this to my

friend, and he recommend to ask her change the grade, since she is really nice..

I already emailed several times today, and hasn't got any replies back yet..

I guess she's not checking her emails.

I like your stanzas.

Yes, my avatar is my picture. Many think that I look rather old for my age, yet others say that I am a twin of the late President Kennedy. However, I, myself, do not see any resemblance.

I was thinking Reagan. Wait a minute... ARE YOU PRESIDENT REAGAN?!?

If it's an English class, you deserve the lower grade. Trust me.

To get the prof's attention, be sure to send at least 3 emails each day until you get a response.

It was a writing class,,,, you mean my english writing is bad??

Probably should email a couple more times. Sometimes professor's inboxes get full so make sure you keep emailing so they see yours is on top.

That is the first time I have ever heard of my avatar portrait looking like him. Perhaps you meant Obama?

Regan was black? Someone should alert all conservatives. I predict a precipitous drop in popularity.

You emailed your professor several times today and actually expect a response today? And you just graduated? YOU DAMN TROLL.

I can't stop laughing at this!

OP, you're fine. Unclench.

Also, I'm starting to think the "Hurhur better start looking into Carib/DO/SMP/Podiatry/Denistry/Hooking" responses are just as bad, if not worse, than the OPs of these types of threads.

is my writing that bad?

you_fail-12825.jpg

"Is my writing bad?" is correct. "Bad" (an adjective) modifies "writing." OTOH, "Is my writing well?" is incorrect. Well (an adverb) would modify "is" (the verb), which makes no sense. The modifier "that" is unnecessary.

Sorry, dude. Better luck next time.

oh, I'm sorry, you were taking this thread seriously.

What does the scouter say about his power level?

If it that's big of a deal take a 3 credit online class and get an A.

If you make a habit of emailing professors multiple times a day because you don't get an immediate response I would be much more worried about LORs than a totally insignificant 0.01 GPA difference.

Like OMGZ, broski, Can't you readz!?!?111?

OP so totally says: "and it seems like in order to bring up my gpa to 3.8 range, I need to take at least 7 more credits and get A from them...

😱😱😱The OP MUST do this ASAP!!!! 😱😱😱😱

I just took a look at some of your previous posts. You deserved that B.

It was a writing class,,,, you mean my english writing is bad??
I'm assuming that you're serious and not trolling, maybe a bad assumption.

Your posts average about one mistake per line. You may need to pay more careful attention to what you say and write.

This line first read "it was an writing class" before you edited it.

OP this is a serious issue that needs to be given a lot of attention when you start applying. You must make sure that you mention this AT LEAST three times in your personal statement, and it's vital that you bring this topic up profusely at your interviews because anything less than a 3.8 in medical school and your options as a doctor are severely limited. They're going to want to know that this was a one time thing, and that it will never happen again

Seriously, it's a B! Suck it up and take the grade that you earned. Many of us have grades that are worse than that. Calm down, relax, and have a beer or two!!

For the sake of the future of medicine, I would sincerely hope this person is a troll and not actually this psycho. The OP is freaking about a .01 GPA difference AND talking about paying "$375 to buy more time to fix the situation"...

How much more trolly can one get? He/She can't even write correctly...unless he/she has got their balls all up in a knot bc of this GPA issue and can't proofread for simple grammar/punctuation issues.

*sigh*

You're going to complain about a .1 difference? You are the reason people hate us pre-med students.
