Hi,

Can someone please explain the difference between the countercurrent multiplier and exchanger? I see that the epithelia is responsible for generating the osmolarity difference, and that's the "multiplier" component, and then the capillaries are the "exchangers" that minimize solute washout, but I can't for the life of me figure out how the terms "multiplier" and "exchanger" fit these functions :/
