Different dates for white coat ceramony

Does anyone know why the white coat ceremony dates are different for DO and MD schools?
I'm not talking about one having the ceremony on 11/3 and another 11/15, but
one having it on beginning of first semester vs mid-end of semester.

From what I have seen, few of my friends who went to MD school had their white coat ceremony(?) in summer. At least I've seen pictures of them on FB.
However, friends who went to DO schools had their's around November.

Why?

Also I think there are schools that have WCC at the end of 2nd year or something before starting clinical rotations. Not sure though.
Just wondering why that is.

I think it just depends on the school. Not a DO or MD thing. I know DO schools that have it in the summer and after 2nd year. This is absolutely NOT a big deal and dont worry about it.

You will get your coat soon enough! Don't you already wear a white coat in undergrad lab though???

I think it's different for each school. I had mine the weekend before class started in late July. Had some friends from MD schools not have theirs till September.

I know an MD school that had theirs before the semester started I'm July. So just a personal school thing, nothing more than that

LECOM-B does it in january. I have heard that its because the deans come down to Florida for a vacation around this time, but more likely because Erie and SH campuses have their white coat ceremonies during the start and middle of first semester.

That's presumptuous as hell unless you have a custodial acceptance in hand.
