different interviewer personalities wrt specialty?

has anyone noticed different personalities among the different kinds of physicians? does anyone feel more comfortable interviewing with certain physicians?

i noticed that pediatricians are always a bit nicer and more understanding. actually, PCPs--internists, OBGYN, and peds--on the whole are easier to talk to for me.

so far i notice i dont seem to communicate as well with surgeons and pathologists.....the surgeons who interview me are usually cocky. this one pathologist was a jerk.

ne one else see patterns among interviewers?

When selecting a speciality, you are always told to select something that fits your interests, talents, and, more importantly, your personality. So i would assume a lot of people with similar personalities have the same specialties. I have noticed that every orthopedic surgeon i have met is a greedy-A-hole, and every male pyschitrist is a werido. But i only know a handful of doctors, so who knows.

I think its probably pretty hard to form an impression of specialty personality from ones own interviews unless you are getting a ridiculous amount of invites. Maybe a pooling together of opinions like this might produce something interesting though. I wonder how much of the interaction is dictated by concious and subconcious expectation of members of certain specialties.

i know a girl who was actually asked during her interview what specialty she thought each of her interviewers was. the guy that did all the talking was the surgeon. i forget what the others were, but she guessed all wrong. she still got in though...

I actually became interested recently in radiology because I interviewed with two separate radiologists that seemed to have very similar personality types to my own. I also ask each person with whom I interview about their specialty, what interested them in that particular specialty, and what they find most rewarding about it.

LOL, my two worst interviews last year were by orthopedic surgeons. Go figure.

i love pediatricians... they're the nicest and most understanding. And, I've been accepted to those schools where a pediatrian / general practioner interviewed me...

Is anyone else wondering what "wrt" means? I can't even think of a good typographical error in this context in which another similar word was meant but misspelled/mistyped.

Sorry, I dislike AIMspeak. Besides, that makes an extra "to."

I had an interview with an surgeon as well and I felt no connection whatsoever with her. I came out of the interview feeling very empty inside. I was later waitlisted.

I heard that the best person to interview with is a female psychiatrist. Anybody has any experience with this?

hahahaha.......woops I DID screw up the "wrt to" oh well.

maybe i havent had enough interviews to make these generalizations, but now whenever i notice that im getting interviewed by non PCPs i get nervous cause i feel like they dont match my personality (i want to do primary care medicine).

what should i do if i get some ortho or cold-stuck up surgeon? match the personality and act like an arrogant a-hole myself? that goes against the whole "be yourself" thing tho.

i dunno.....i just dont want a-holes screwing up my interviews hahaha. or maybe i need to work on interview skills.

wrt is not AIMspeak its technical speak. Its use is plentiful in math and related fields.
