So I basically have 2 solid science LORs and 1 solid dentist LOR. However, reading some of the threads, apparently columbia wants 3 science LORs instead of 2+1?? So I can ask another sci professor for an LOR but it's not going to be as good 'cause he doesn't know me well.

So my question is, if you submit 3+1 LORs, those schools that only require 3, would they just randomly choose 3 out of 4, or like choose the dentist one and 2 randoms out of the 3?
Or is it kool to send columbia just 2+1???

Bump???
No one else has this problem???

For the 2009 aadsas cycle, they allowed 1 committee letter or 4 individual LOR's. In your case since you have 2 science profs and 1 dentist, then you still have room for 1 more. If your 2 + 1 satisfies the requirement for some schools, then certainly 3 + 1 will.......as well as satisfy the requirement for schools that require 3 science faculty such as Columbia. Approach one of your additional science profs that you know or had for a class you liked, and let them konw what you are doing and more about yourself.......I don't see why they wouldn't write you a letter. 👍

I'm sure I can get one more letter. The professor doesn't know me as well as the other two though. So what I don't know is that whether schools that require 2+1, like UCSF, when they receive 3+1, will they just select 3 randomly or read all 4. The reason is that my first 2 sci professors have known me for like a year in and out of class. The third one knows me as a good student in 2 of his classes, but not much beyond, so if UCSF is just gonna read 3 out of 4, the fact that I'm submitting 4 could work to my disadvantage, but I guess if they read all 4, then yeah, it can't hurt me.
