Hello! I am applying to DPT programs this cycle and just got accepted to my first school! I have to put a deposit down in 2 weeks in order to hold my spot however it's not exactly my first choice. I know that other schools can see where I've been accepted and if I've accepted and am hesitant that that will affect whether I get accepted to other programs. At the same time though I don't exactly want to turn this school down and then risk not getting accepted any where else.

Any intel on if schools care if you've accepted elsewhere and if that would cause them to reject you?

Did you apply to the school via ptcas? If so:
"Programs cannot require a deposit prior to January 15 of the year of enrollment or January 15 of year prior to enrollment for January and February start programs."
and:
"Beginning in early spring 2017, any designated PTCAS program that offers you admission will know how many offers of admission you have received from and accepted at other PTCAS institutions. Programs will not know how many applications you have submitted, to which programs you have submitted them, or any other admissions decisions made by other PT programs at that time. After the completion of the 2016-17 admissions cycle in fall 2017, programs will be able to view the other programs designated by their applicants and the final admission decision reported by each competing institution in PTCAS."

Don't have any intel on whether it would hurt to have multiple acceptances on file but wanted to put this out there about your deposit!

Actually reading more closely- a school would have to offer you admission in order to know that you had accepted somewhere else so there can't be any backlash

I actually just called PTCAS to discuss this. I'm in a similar position as you.

It appears that schools only know the number of schools offering you admission, not which schools specifically. Also, they only have access to this information if they accept you as well.

As to the deposit, you may want to check on that because I believe the deposits have mandated deadlines of January 15 by PTCAS.

Best advice: accept the seat from the school you were accepted. However, if you are accepted elsewhere and decide to attend there, notify the school you accepted with immediately so they can begin looking at their waitlists.

Yeah, that's basically what I've decided to do. Thanks for double checking it all. Best of luck!
