Hi!

I'm doing a report for an English class about the most troublesome parts of the application process. I've read past threads and I think I've listed some of the most common problems.

Please choose the one you think should be addressed most urgently!

And if you think of other problems, please feel free to list them below.

And if you like, what suggestions would you have to address your particular concern?

This report will be sent to AMCAS so your opinion counts!!

PM me if you have any questions - blinx

I think the AMCAS is a great start at centralizing the application process (sure beats applying to undergrad with a different app for each one). But with all the other stuff you have to do (LOR, transcripts, secondary apps) plus the different course requirements, the schools that don't subscribe to AMCAS, different methods of interviewing, different times of the year that interviews take place, different time frames (rolling vs. non) of acceptance, etc. it sure is a juggling act to keep it all straight.

I guess, if I had to pick, the most helpful thing would be to create a centralize LOR service.

I'd say cost is a big problem for many, many people.

I second that.

Wow - for a second there, I forgot about cost (how could I ?)

I hate the waiting, and I think that online status checks should be available.

Amen to that.

A distant second: the waiting, as jmwalker said.

I agree-cost is a big problem. We all would have saved a lot of money if schools that rejected us pre-interview had just screened before secondaries anyways.

I could do w/o the cost and effort of secondary applications, if most schools screened pre secondary that would lower the cost of the application process as well as make the process a little easier. Schools that take your secondary and check then never contact you again suck, yea mt Sinai I'm talking to you!

The biggest difficulty of applying to medical school is having to do it twice or more.

i didn't even think of cost! ... that is definitely a major obstacle in the application process 🙂

i guess like Desdemona said, if schools screened pre-secondary costs could drop a bit for us

any other ideas or ways to address some of these issues?

...is how much the dragged-out process interferes with my normal life.
