I was wondering if anyone knew if DO schools took into account how hard different colleges are. For example, I have a friend who goes to a branch campus of my university (which is a lot easier to get a higher GPA at) and is maintaining a 3.7 without doing much work while I am working my butt off for my 3.3. My school is very big on preventing grade inflation. I'm not complaining but was just wondering if anyone had any info on how DO schools interpreted GPAs of different colleges. Thanks!

UMDNJSOM takes your undergrad into consideration but I am unsure how they figure out a ranking system. maybe it is used for "tie-breakers"?

Due to the multitude of applicants representing a vast amount of different schools across the US, I always thought the MCAT was the tool they used to compare/assess applicants against one another because they just don't know the different schools and program competitiveness. Even the programs of the same schools can have different competitiveness. I attended a branch campus and only in my program, for example, was the grading scale different. 92%+=A 86+=B and so forth which means a B for me could = 91%. No inflation. I think the MCAT is used more than trying to compare institutions per se.

During the primary application process, I thought the stand. that they did with your GPA was just this type of situation. In fact, my GPA actually dropped after they Stand. it. This makes sense when, if my professors can be trusted, most schools look at a high GPA from a private school to be lower. That is, my 3.9 turned into a 3.8 something, ect.
