DiGeorge Syndrome and metirosine

16 yo patient with DiGeorge Syndome with hallucinations, had 2 failed AP trials. Would you treat this patient with metirosine if family is asking specifically for this medication?

maybe they read this? I think it would not be unreasonable to. The main issue is it likely wont be covered by insurance and its very expensive (between 10-40k per month).

Hypothetically, yes, with informed consent if the diagnosis is correct. You could check with the manufacturer to see if there is a patient assistance program.

Family reached out to a research center and learnt about the medication.

Interesting. If the diagnosis was confirmed, I would seek out a conversation with someone with experience with the medication and then yes, I would probably be willing to write the prescription but it sounds difficult to obtain.
