Can you guys please tell me what are the minimum specifications for the digital camera which is used for the residency programs in Periodontology or Prosthodontics.
Is a 4megapixel good enough?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks a lot!

First, you should ask the program where you are going. I don't know of any universal "standard". That being said, I think most professional medical photographers would tell you that the best intraoral photos are made using a ring-flash on a single-lens-reflex (SLR) body. Megapixels don't matter because I've seen 3MP photos displayed on a huge screen and they look fine as long as the photographer knew what they were doing. And most cameras for these applications are greater than 3MP.

Probably some sort of SLR (single lens reflex), 5.0 MP or greater, ring flash, mirrors... I like the digital EOS Rebel by Canon. Look on eBay, might find a used one.
