What are some of your thoughts on dig. mammography? Are you currently using dig in your residency programs?

It's not the first study that has shown this, though the earliest studies were a bit disappointing. This current study was a large one with a good design and sort of proved the point in smaller studies. It was intuitively obvious from the start that digital mammography (esp. FFDM) is going to be better in dense breasts (though the earliest studies showed they were equivalent), even if you only consider the advantage of being able to window and level the mammograms (like everything else in CT and digital x-rays).

At our place, they've had digital mammography devices since 1996, way before I even started my residency.
