Talked with a pathologist colleague today and some corporate CEO mind you was talking about how once pathology goes digital, pathologists will be competing with each other for biopsies/work. Just a FYI for those considering this field.

AI + digital path = less need for pathologists (as more pathologists will be able to handle more work) and more competition between pathologists for work.

We already compete for every specimen. There is a good fixative called formalin. Makes transportation to far off locations very easy.

Yes and with AI and digital path, it’ll make competition even more fierce amongst pathologists.

Competition is between hospitals and venture capital firms buying up everything. Not much you can do about that.
