is it possible??? i made a very small pinpoint exposure on a middle aged patient's upper 2nd molar and he had moderate pain the week before. there was a proximal cavity in the distal side n i drilled it n it extended towards the pulp from the proximal side. :scared:
in a hurry, i just put a formocresol pellet n gave a temp filling n recalled afta a week.
now, m worried! what shud i do??? plz help!
i joined this forum primarily for this answer!

It really depends on whether the exposure was carious or mechanical. If it was a carious exposure that means the caries have reached the pulp already and the tooth will need rct. However if it was an accidental exposure, and it was small than u may not need rct. I personally would pulp cap with calcium hydroxide and restore and then re-evaluate after a few weeks

Do the endo. The reality of the situation is if the pulp was exposed, the odds are ver strong that it's not a question of if the tooth will need an endo in the future, but when.

If you were chasing caries when the exposure happened, so be it. If it was an unexpected pulp exposure, well I think it's pretty safe to say that if you're going to be doing restorative dentistry for your professional career, then it won't be the last time you'll have an unanticapated pulp exposure - just the reality of prepping teeth sometimes

ah there was no caries near the pulp, it happened accidentally. it's the 1st that happened with me so i thot mebbe formocresol will deal with it like how v do it in pulpotomies.
can i put CaOh2 now when the patient comes n do a restoration ova it? 😕

Can you please type like a human being with correct spelling?
