This sounds like a great essay. However, I'm not sure if it was a good idea to post it publicly.

Sounds good. Always great when you can explain how you got from point A to B---also a lot of people applying won't have YOUR story.

Good content. I made a few structural corrections.

And there's no need to delete it from this thread. If someone borrows it, they'll have a heck of a time answering questions about it during interviews. Also, it may be of use to other SDNers who are struggling to write a similar essay. (I'll delete my quote if you want, though.)

Thanks for the help Gnomo, I really appreciate it! If you wouldn't mind deleting your post though, I would appreciate it! I never would have thought of someone stealing someone else's story...but I guess anything is possible. Thanks again!

I'd be more concerned with adcom members recognizing the OP based on the essay being here than I would with someone stealing the essay for their own use.

Here's the issue: You become a member of the SDN community and you want to be able to speak freely, maybe joke around at times, let your hair down, but it would be hard to do that if you wondered if someone who identifies your SND handle based on your posted essay and then can link to all your posts including the ones that might be a bit dumb or embarrassing. 😳
