Hello all...I was less than enthusiastic to receive a score of 194 on USMLE Step I. I'm honestly not too sure what happened. I was consistently scoring ~85% on QBank and scored 90% on the NBME released items two days before i took the real thing. I'm most interested in Anesthesia, but have also been considering Emergency Medicine and Radiology. I hate to close these doors because of poor performance during a single day. Y'all think there would be any benefit for me to retake Step I, or should I just work my ass off in rotations and try to rock Step II (which I would do anyway...)? I'm certainly open to suggestion here...

You're right. You cannot take Step I if you passed, even if you passed with a 184.

I would suggest taking Step 2 early enough to report the score to residency programs in which you apply. If you do well on Step 2, residency programs will care much more about a test that is clinically applicable than one that tests buzz words.
