Is it important to do extracurriculars and continuation and not stop meaning say someone been doing something for 3 summers and wants to quit should they keep doing it or is it bad to stop something?

It's not bad to quit an extracurricular position after an extended amount of time. Perhaps you found other opportunities or simply lost interest in the position.
But if you just started your position and wanted to quit after a week, then that will look a little sketchy.

Three summers worth of an EC demonstrates sufficient longevity. Discontinue it if you wish.

You probably wouldn't want to put it on your application, as it wouldn't add anything to your candidacy.

Four summers will look good on the application for longevity and dedication. So would three summers have done so. It reflects well that they keep letting you come back.

If you think you got enough out of the experience, then stop. 4 summers in a row shows dedication and consistency like Catalystik said. That is assuming u didn't go like only twice a month and actually had substantial hours.
