So I've been stuck on this question for a while and wanted to get some input. Right now I got two different failures that have come to mind:

1. Started trading stocks, lost 45% of my money, regained over the next year. Went through a lot of stress over that time. lol

2. Tried starting an iPhone LCD screen repair company in my garage. After many failures (20+) I sold all equipment.

Wondering which situation would be better. Maybe you think both seem awful... I'd love some input.

If you have any suggestions on failures, I'd love to hear some examples just in case that might spark something for me.

Sounds like you lost nothing but ... money. Not very inspiring.

I talked about not getting a job that I absolutely thought I had in the bag. Doesn't sound inspiring, I know, but it was my dream job in my dream facility in my field, and my first job interview as a student about to graduate in that field. I spun it so it sounded better than that.

This prompt is all about introspection. It’s 25% about the “what” of the situation and “75%” about the “how” you dealt with the failure.

Losing money trading stocks may be the “what” but shouldn’t be the focus. Like you failed at gaining money in a fickle/unreliable method - is that really a topic that really caters at all to writing about how you coped?

IMO #2 works better because it allows for more introspection (what went wrong, what you learned, how you managed etc.)

Don't like number 1 because it would a lot of words to adequately paint the picture (what did you invest in, when, how did it bounce back, etc). Maybe you didn't make a mistake but just bad timing. 2 is more interesting because it shows initiative although I can't believe you ruined 20+ screens lol

They're both fine!
