Hi all,
I thought of starting a new thread for discussing questions from previous qp's or even simple doubts.Hope everyone who are preparing wud find it useful & contribute more questions & answers.

My first question is from pathology:
Vasodilatation & increased vasopermeability lasting for several days in an area of inflammation indicate which of the following?
1.thrombosis
2.release of histamine
3.Hageman factor activation
4.formation of granulation tissue
5.endothelial cell damage & disruption
Could anybody please answer this question?Thanks in advance!

Histamine is found in granules in mast cells or basophils.
H1 histamine receptor - found on smooth muscle, endothelium, and central nervous system tissue; causes vasodilation, bronchoconstriction, smooth muscle activation, and separation of endothelial cells (responsible for hives), and pain and itching due to insect stings; the primary receptors involved in allergic rhinitis symptoms and motion sickness.

Well, to answer the question, we need to look at the key word. I saw in here there are 3 key words: Inflamation, Vasodilation and lasting for several days. These mean a chronic inflamation process not an acute so we can start to eliminate answer no. 1, 3 and 5. In chronic process we can see a formation of granulation tissue by macrophage cell (4) however, this process is not involved in vasodilation or inflamation or increases tissue permeability. The cell that respond in a chronic inflamation is a mast cells, which also release prostaglandin and Histamine (and histamine as explain on previous post is responsible for vasodilation)... so I believe the answer will be (2)

most prominenent mechanism of spread of varicella zoster in a susceptible population is by which route?
direct skin-to-skin or respiratory?
I feel its skin-skin but one of my friend read somewhere as respiratory,does anybody know which is right?

Its absolutely respiratory.. but go back to ur first question .!
Histamine is resposnible for IMMEDIATE Vasodilatation & increased vasopermeability (not lasting for several days) .!!!! Its ans. (3) Hageman factor who activates Kallikreins to form kinins (BK and KD) which is responsible for inflammation & pain lasting several days .

1) varicella zoster -spreads through respiratory,
2)regarding glands,purely serous parotid,
" mucus palatine,(palate)
mixed sub mandibular and sub lingual

well both routes are right but direct contact is the main route for catching VS
