There seems to be a big difference between matriculant's MCAT vs accepted's MCAT at many top schools. What do you make out of that? Please don't pass any judgment here. Just hard data analysis. Thank you.

People with multiple top school acceptances can only matriculate at 1 school in the end, thus driving down the matriculant median stats.

Cool, but not every top school has a lower number. Can we extrapolate the school preferences or quality of program from that?

It's really not that big of a difference...for example, maybe a 520 vs a 519 at Harvard.

Some of the Top Schools may also be less stats driven and more mission based, and so are more willing to take accept (and successfully recruit/matriculate) candidates will lower stats.
 
Some schools like WashU where it is a 522 to 519 drop, that stuff can be explained geographically - who the hell wants to live in Saint Louis?! That is why they throw buckets and buckets of financial aid at their acceptees, they want something to stick.

Update: Hell, even when I pull up the map I get it wrong, it is like 200 miles NW of where I marked.

I used to think it was in Washington, the state...
So Ive been thinking it’s around New Orleans.
I’m glad Im not aiming to be a geographer.

I mean, it is WUSTL...Washington University in Saint Louis... Washington State is on the opposite side of the country as New Orleans....what’re you doing....? This is going on the “funny quotes from uninformed premeds”.....

Edit: I left out any LOLs or HAHAs but just an FYI I was laughing and this was intended as funny.

Oh wait..then I assume the med school at St. Louis University (also on my school list) is ALSO not located in New Orleans. The place you pointed on the map seems more like Kentucky or something.

Ppl matriculate into the best school they get into/want to attend. For the most part stats go down, but aid, location, curriculum/structure, all play a role.

Imagine a 3.65/513 applicant applying and get accepted to Geisel and Drexel. He is a top 20% candidate for Drexel, but a bottom 20th for Geisel, and is more likely to matriculate to his reach, thereby lowering Geisel's matriculation compared to accepted pool, and perhaps a lower applicant "fills in the gap" bc Drexel is their reach, thereby lowering Drexels etc. Its a chain effect, and im pretty sure theres some stat that says most who are accepted hold multiple A's because their app quality is good across the board.

Man, I was like can I ever see myself spending 4 years in St. Louis... Internal struggle. Then I was like oh well, let me just apply for the time being.

I was in Boston buying a pair of shoes. And the salesperson asked a customer if Columbus Ohio is really far from their hometown in Iowa...

It’s right on the border of Missouri and Illinois. Separated by the Mississippi River. It’s not near NO but isn’t too far from Paducah Kentucky- about 160 miles. It’s about 300 miles SW of Chicago.

OK, so if we have established that Washington Unviersity in St Louis is no where near either "Washington" (State or DC), let's discuss why Northwestern is not in the Northwest. (Or is it?)

before the Louisiana purchase, it was the northwestern territory. Very confusing name. I always thought the school was in Seattle.
 
Also, shoutout to the UC schools... for having me think that I could do an ITA for them when I looked on the map and saw just HOW DISTANT some of those cities are from each other.

Edit: I asked my friend in SF to meet up while I will be at UCLA. Then I realize they are a 6 hour drive from each other. ooooooopssss

I believe maybe due to demographics? Lots of Mexicans around that area (near Texas). Maybe the food there is extra spicy because of the salsa?
And the other hot is well...I wouldnt' want to know how hot Arizona gets. Thus I did not apply to Mayo AZ 🙂

Or you know it could be because that state is called New Mexico
