Okay so I am premed and a physics major. Would I be wasting 5-7 months of my life if I decided to do the Disney College Program? I know it doesn't relate much to getting into med school but it just looks so fun! I would have to take summer courses in order to fit it in before I graduate. So basically my only reason for doing it would be to enjoy my life lol and nothing practical or resume building towards getting into medical school. Do you think it would ruin my chances? Honestly I'm just hoping someone here did it or knows someone that did it and can give me hope

Do it. It’s great . You work hard, don’t get paid a bunch but it’s fabulous. You’ll have time to get your classes together for med school. That shouldn’t be a worry. Most people in the program hope to be extended for a couple of months. Not sure how it will be with the Covid 19:stuff but if you are accepted do it.

I know someone who was in the program when COVID shut it down, and she loved it. I would do it if they reinstate it within your time frame. You’ll get to meet and interact with loads of people, and it’ll give you interesting things to talk about in your interviews.

I know this is late, but I did the program this past Spring 2020 (ended early due to COVID) and am currently an M1 medical student. I absolutely LOVED working at Disney!!!! I was in the role of merchandise in Magic Kingdom, which includes TONS of guest interactions. I think that you should definitely do the program. I had my medical school interviews before my program started in the spring, and interviewers were very interested to hear about the DCP even though I hadn't even started yet. And now in medical school, I have a great talking point with patients and feel amazingly confident in whipping up a conversation with them! I hope that you will be able to do a DCP before you start medical school (hopefully they will start the programs again soon, although I am not sure with COVID). I am so glad I did mine!! If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me!

Nah, it's definitely practical. Always good to be a "well rounded person" and have some unique extracurriculars to talk about!!
I used my 2 year experience as a college radio DJ heavily in one of my secondaries for a school...ended up getting a II so you never know.
