Well each person has their own way of coping with the idea of being away from school. It depends on the person really i think. Some cope by getting more filams or they hang out with their friends here. But it take a good adjustment either way.
Some of the ones in my school (UST), we live in one building. Include the new batch there are like two main buildings were most live at. With the rest somewhat all over the place.
Significant others...i'd like to tell ya that it'll work out. But from the past 2 years i've been here. From the first year i think roughly 2 out of 6, i knew came with bf/gf from the states. To be honest most that came here last year were single. Those two i think will work out cause they do the calling stuff, video, and what not. This year i think only 2 out of 5 are working out. But i know last year a 4th year who graduate..she married her boy when she went home. So it's up to the person and the couple itself. Generally i see the ones who are meant to be will work out..but they work it out. And sometimes the other person comes over during the school year. General rule from what i see..if you can go through the 1st semester (in UST it's 1st and 2nd shift together) then you'll make it. but it'll be really hard with school and everything since your really adjusting the whole 1st shift almost.
About leaving to to home during breaks. I notice it depends on the person again. You have the ones who either get a bf/gf here...they usually stay during breaks. But it's 50-50 really...cause breaks are really short unless it's during summers. Sometimes 2-3 weeks if that..so it's up to the person. Most will leave during the summers, but a few leave every break. You fall in one of those cathegory really...you'll either leave to go home every break or go home occasionally.
Just remember..by coming over here to study. Your are makign a commitment somewhat. Everything will work out..as long as you try.
