Hello, I have quick question about how strict LOR will be. One of my professors I asked said she would be more than willing to write me a LOR, however, to double check how strict ADEA is about the term "professor". She said she is technically an "Instructor" and "Researcher". Do you guys think this will be an issue? She isn't a TA. I really enjoyed this professor and would love her to write me a letter and am wondering if this would be an issue. Thanks in advance!

If she was your lecturer for a science class I don't think it should be an issue. My school is the same way in that I was taught by a "lecturer" and that's apparently different from professor, associate professor, instructor, and something else I forget. I think if they have a phd and were the main instructor/not TA then it's fine.

Usually they ask for letters from faculty, which means they have to be registered as faculty from the university. Whether or not the schools will accept lecturers / other professors who are not faculty but have taught you, I think you'd have to contact the schools to see if its ok. I encountered this problem because I tried to ask someone who was a lab coordinator who taught me a lecture-based course for a letter, but he told me he was not faculty. So to stay safe, I simply found 2 professors who were faculty.

Yes, this was the case in my situation. This professor has a PhD and was the main instructor. Thanks for the input!

Sounds good. Yes, this particular professor is a faculty member. Thanks for the input!
