Distractions during the waiting ...

How about you take a photography class during the waiting. Take a drawing class? A cooking class? Learn some spanish 101? Start a blog. There are tons of productive things to do. TV is a dream killer.

I don't really follow this logic.

Forgot about Homeland!

Got a long list - most are probably repeats but if anything, it's just another vote of confidence for them:

Shows:
Breaking Bad
House of Cards
Game of Thrones
True Detective
The Wire
Arrested Development
The Walking Dead
Dexter
Mad Men
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Archer
Sherlock
Homeland
The Office (both U.S. and U.K. versions)
An oldie but a goodie (I don't think anyone's mentioned it but it's on Netflix): Twin Peaks

Movies/Documentaries
Escape Fire:The Fight to Rescue American Healthcare
The Intouchables
The Square
What's Eating Gilbert Grape
United
Blackfish
Elite Squad: Enemy Within
Jiro Dreams of Sushi
American Psycho
Memento
In Bruges
Into the Wild
Amelie
Lost in Translation
The King's Speech

Meh I'm sure there's a lot more I'm missing but this was just on first go. Good stuff.

I've been wondering about a Young Doctor's Notebook so I'm excited to try that one out...

It wouldn't be a distraction if it was productive. I'll happily binge watch TV, read comics, and play videogames before I have no time to do any of those things again. Or at least at the level I'm doing them now 😛

NOOOOOO why did you watch?! Those are some crazy feels!!!!

Gosh I know! I almost wish I didn't watch so I could be that much more ignorant to some horrible things out there, but I'm glad I did. It was really well made.

I find Ashens YouTube videos quite entertaining. Especially when they pertain to Chinese products marketed to westerners.

Any good medical or healthcare related documentaries out there?

Does anyone know when Sherlock season 3 will be on Netflix?

For now I'm watching Gundam 00.

solid choice.
Also an anime-freak here, maybe more manga oriented, but my pick are:

Mobile Suit Gundam (Universal Century series, which is a lot...)
Char's Counterattack (well u need to watch Gundam to appreciate it first...)
FMA Brotherhood
Cowboy Bebop
Attack on Titan

For a "medical drama", I found Team Medical Dragon (japanese med drama) was pretty good & entertaining considering it's a "drama". The original story & cases were written by a medical journalist turned manga artist.

And then of course the Daily Show by John Stewart. 😀

Honestly I'm not really sure why there needed to be any more posts in this thread after this.

Then once you all finish Firefly, I'd recommend watching Firefly again. And then maybe Castle... but mostly just for the Firefly references they drop in every episode.

For those of you with time on your hands while you wait for admission decisions, let's post enjoyable programs to binge watch on Netflix, etc.

I will start by recommending A Young Doctor's Notebook . It is a very dark comedy from the BBC about the recollection s of a physician (John Hamm of Madmen) of his earliest days as a doctor (played by Daniel Radciiffe of Harry Potter fame) in Russia at the time of the revolution (1917). Unfortunately, there are only 4 episodes but it is quite good.

I"m also a fan of Orange is the New Black, House of Cards, Call the Midwife.

OMG! I just started watching A Young Doctor's Notebook and I realized that it's based on a collection of short stories by Russian writer Michael Bulgakov that I have read in its original language several times back in Russia. In fact, it was one of the few books that I brought with me to the United States. The writer who wrote this was a doctor himself and these stories were pretty much true events.

Thanks for sharing that! I was captivated by the series and I stayed up much too late last week binging!

You are welcome! That show brought a wave of nostalgia over the good old times when I was reading that book.

Haha, nice.

I figure I'd watch it a couple more times before medschool ruins it a little

I've been binging on The Office, House of Cards, How I Met Your Mother, Call of Duty, and the Walking Dead.

It's been sad up until recently. When I rotated off, I wouldn't leave the couch.

My wife and I recently bought a house in the city where I'll be attending school, so I've been working on it.

I seriously considered taking aspirin for dvt prophylaxis because I was so lazy
